I figured it was about time for me to give The Velvet Underground a thorough listening. Honestly I am a little embarrassed I haven't got around to it until now with as much influence as they have had on many of the bands I listen to. In the end it was my new found obsession with Wilco that led me to check out VU at last. According to Brian Eno (who produced the newest Paul Simon Album "Surprise" which I highly suggest you check out) "while only a few thousand people bought a Velvet Underground record upon their initial release, almost every single one of them was inspired to start a band." There sound is raw and noisy but the songs are quality. Not only can I enjoy the influence they had on making many great bands who they are, I now can now enjoy the VU just for the VU.
