I just updated my music website with some songs from the past. You can check them out here. I added 3 more songs to the "My Music" section (the top 3) and also added 3 old songs to the "TBA" section. (Don't miss the clip of "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight" in the TBA section it is hilarious.) While you are on the site check out the other music and links I have on there if you haven't yet. Definitly let me know what you think of my stuff if you have a moment. Feel free to leave comments on VOX or email me. Enjoy!
I just have to say something about arguing... If ever you find yourself doing it or in the position to interact with people who are which may or may not happen every 10 minutes. Let me suggest 3 things.
1) Check the temperature... is one of the arguing mammals hot or cold? If so...get in some AC/Heat or take off/put on some layers
2) Is someone hungry? This seems to be the number one cause in my experience and most of time you don't realize it. Until after you eat and all the arguing miraculously disappears.
3) Is someone tired? This is not as easy a quick fix but the solution is kind of a means to an end. Take a nap. Or sit down and calm down... Most likely after that things can be resolved much more quickly.
This is kind of silly but it's just funny to me how many times this stuff happens.
On a completely different note. WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO, WILCO
I just wanted to recommend a couple of songs by Wilco:
at least that's what you said, hell is chrome, spiders (kidsmoke), muzzle of bees, hummingbird, handshake drugs, wishful thinking, company in my back, i'm a wheel, theologians, less than you think, the late greats, i must be high, casino queen, box full of letters, shouldn't be ashamed, pick up the change, i thought i held you, that's not the issue, its just that simple, should've been in love, passenger side, dash 7, blue eyed soul, too far apart, misunderstood, far far away, monday, outtasite (outta mind), forget the flowers, red-eyed and blue, i got you (at the end of the century), what's the world got in store, hotel arizona, say you miss me, sunken treasure, someday soon, outta mind(outta sight), someone else's song, kingpin, (was i) in your dreams, why would you wanna live, the lonely 1, dreamer in my dreams, can't stand it, she's a jar, a shot in the arm, we're just friends, i'm always in love, nothing'severgonnastandinmyway (again), pieholden suite, how to fight loneliness, via chicago, elt, my darling, when you wake up feeling old, summer teeth, in a future age, candyfloss, i am trying to break your heart, kamera, radio cure, war on war, jesus etc, ashes of american flags, heavy metal drummer, im the man who loves you, pot kettle black, poor places, reservations
Yes...that is every Wilco song I have ever heard...and you know what...I want to hear more.
My new obsession. I cannot stop listening to this album...ever. I don't know if it is just Jeff Tweedy's amazing lyrics and songwriting ability or if I really just love alt-country. I definitly love the instruments. If i ever made a full band this is what I would want it to sound like. I plan on checking out Uncle Tupelo soon. (The band Tweedy was in before Jay Farrar left and the reason Wilco is named Wilco) That will hopefully further verify my suspisions in my taste for the style. Supposively the sound of AM is nearly the same as Uncle Tupelo, being Tweedy's first post-Farrar writing.
Speaking of Alt-Country, did any of you guys happen to catch Kiefer Sutherland’s documentary promoting a new Alt-Country band called Rocco Deluca and the Burden? http://www.roccodeluca.com/ If not maybe you saw the clip on youtube where Kiefer tackles a christmas tree. That would be from the documentary. Anyway I watched the whole thing and really enjoyed it. In the film you learn that Kiefer not only likes Alt-Country, but he smokes a lot of cigarettes, drinks a lot, and wears tight jeans and that man-purse from 24 everywhere.
I really like the way VOX does the books and cd review on the sides of the blog. Make sure to check out the reviews I made of my books/CDs. Or don't. If you want...
I figured it was about time for me to give The Velvet Underground a thorough listening. Honestly I am a little embarrassed I haven't got around to it until now with as much influence as they have had on many of the bands I listen to. In the end it was my new found obsession with Wilco that led me to check out VU at last. According to Brian Eno (who produced the newest Paul Simon Album "Surprise" which I highly suggest you check out) "while only a few thousand people bought a Velvet Underground record upon their initial release, almost every single one of them was inspired to start a band." There sound is raw and noisy but the songs are quality. Not only can I enjoy the influence they had on making many great bands who they are, I now can now enjoy the VU just for the VU.
